Word on the Street
Come experience the madness that is Word on the Street in Toronto! I’ll be selling
and signing my books from 11:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon at the Crime Writers of Canada
table in the Writer’s Block (look for it on the 2009 site map, which will be up soon).
I’ll also be working the table as a volunteer for the CWC from noon till 1:00 p.m.,
so come say hello.

Light the Night Walk
Nathan Phillips Square
As some of you may know, I lost my only sister to lymphoma in September of 2005.
Kathryn Anne Berning was more than my big sister - she was my best friend, a wonderful
mother, a daughter, a wife, and a rare shining light in a world that so desperately
needs lights like hers. Learning how to get along without her isn’t easy, but we’re
all taking it one step at a time, and to that end I will be walking in her memory
once again next year as part of Light the Night, organized by the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society. The event and registration begin at 5:30 pm, with the walk itself starting
at 7:00 pm. I welcome you to walk with me, in person or in spirit, or to sponsor
my walk if you’d like. Thanks to all those who sponsored me last year.
Wednesday, September 30
Whitby Public Library
405 Dundas Street West
I’ll be giving a talk on the way I do research, called ‘Best Evidence’. The session
runs from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Meeting Room 1. You can find full details here (you
have to scroll down a bit - I’m just below the Drop-In Family Storytime!) and you
can register (it’s free, but space is limited) by calling 905 668-6531 extension
2010. Hope to see you there.
